Chris Dwyer
Mediator

Christopher C. Dwyer,
Barrister-at-law & Nationally Accredited Mediator and Arbitrator

Chris completed a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours in 1983 and after being admitted as a barrister has practised at the Sydney bar since March 1984.

From 1984-1990 he practised in a wide range of jurisdictions including: construction, crime; family law; workers compensation; motor vehicle personal injury and property damage cases; mining; Family Provision Act; land and environment; commercial and employment law.

From 1990 to date, his practice has primarily focused on commercial law and construction disputation.

For some time the financial burden placed on clients who pursue litigation by traditional court procedures has been a matter of concern to Chris and ultimately galvanised his interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). With a view to doing something positive about his concerns he became a member of the Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia (I.A.M.A) in 2007 when he was awarded The Practitioner’s Certificate In Mediation and the Certificate of Competency in Expert Determination. Subsequently he received accreditation under the new National Accreditation Scheme for Mediators.

In 2008, Chris was awarded the Professional Certificate in Arbitration by the University of Adelaide and was the winner of the Achievement of Excellence Award, given by the University.

Chris Dwyer is also appointed to the District and Local Courts Panels of Mediators and Arbitrators.
